For the last 6 months, I’ve been recovering from a torn MCL (competition injury) and my diet has gone down hill.
I mean down hill, like
- Cheese burgers for breakfast
- Doritos for lunch
- Doughnuts for dinner
I was in a dark place to say the least. But the good thing is that, it only took me 6 months to gain 10 lbs, I think I can stabilize my weight in 3 months of hard work.
Thanks to good old father time and my Cannondale (cycling therapy), my leg is just about fully functional, and I’m back on the mats rolling (BJJ) and hitting the pads (Muay Thai).
To get my nutrition and digestion back on track, I’m now drinking my favorite 4 ingredient smoothie as my daily supplement and recovery drink. Whenever I’m consuming this drink, It usually means everything is on track.
Green Smoothie Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Muay Thai Recovery Recipe
- 2 cups Spinach (Kale substitute)
- 1/4 cup kale
- 1 celery stick
- 1 apple
- knob ginger
- 1-2 cups of water
This smoothie is fantastic to break your fast, enjoy as a snack, and to supplement your dinner. The smoothie is on the sweeter side for my sweet tooth, but also packed with more than enough nutrition for the day.
